Research Topics

The development of new theories and new instrumentation in the Light Microscopy Group is always undertaken within the context of physiologically relevant biological experiments.  Therefore, we focus our efforts on the visualization and manipulation of cells cultivated in a three-dimensional environment as well as embryos of fish, insects and mice.  By applying optical forces, photo bleaching, or laser cutting to perturb steady-state processes, we are able to investigate the kinetic as well as the mechanics of live systems.

Research and development in our laboratory is performed by physicists, chemists, mathematicians, engineers and biologists.  They work as staff members, post-doctoral fellows, Ph.D. students and Diploma as well as Master students.
